No. 11 of 48 — SUNDAY COMMENT

No News On Sunday

And Why I Had to Look at Graffiti

I had intended to spend Sunday exactly as nature intended: coffee, a respectable breakfast and absolutely no professional interest in New Atlas whatsoever. Then I turned onto Midtown and discovered that somebody had improved a perfectly serviceable wall with several feet of unsolicited commentary.

Naturally, I am assured this is “youth expression.” Fine. Express yourselves. Preferably somewhere I cannot see it while carrying pastries. The city survived. So did I. That’s it? That’s what they pay you for?
