No. 9 of 48 — NIGHT ECONOMY

Hot Off The Press

New Atlas Never Stops Spinning

All-night laundromats are enjoying a quiet boom across New Atlas, as longer working hours and smaller apartments send more residents out with baskets well after dark. Operators say late-night trade has risen steadily, helped by students, shift workers and anyone who prefers clean sheets before sunrise.

For proprietors, the appeal is simple: machines do not sleep, and neither, increasingly, does the city. Warm dryers, bright lights and twenty-five cents can buy a little comfort at almost any hour.

Some customers stay longer than others. See… Booming.
